Become a Stephen Foster Volunteer!

The Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park located  in White Springs, Florida, has many exciting volunteer opportunities for the young and young at heart.

Whether you have some free time and would like to help the park or need volunteer hours to graduate, Stephen Foster has many fun and challenging projects that we need your help with!

Volunteer Opportunities Available:

Campground Host:  Come camp in the beautiful Stephen Foster Campground and stay for up to 3 months.  Meet and greet visitors, maintain the campground and restrooms, and help with any late night emergencies.  You campsite will be free during your stay with a requirement of 20 hours of volunteering a week.  Positions are available for both the winter and summer months.  Call the Ranger Station at 386-397-4331 for information. 

Maintenance:  Stephen Foster State Park is beautiful and is constantly growing.  If you have special skills, such as gardening, electricity and carpentry  we could use your help.  Scout Troops and other community service groups are welcome to come do service projects, or a Suwannee River Cleanup  Contact the park to find out what you could do.

Museum/Tower Docents:  Volunteers are needed in the elegant Stephen Foster Museum as well as the Stephen Foster Carillon Tower.  Docents are needed to guide visitors and tour groups through the buildings, answer questions, and help Museum Guide Pat Cromer with any projects she may have.  Antebellum style dresses are available for you to wear during the tours.

Florida Folk Festival:  This annual event which takes place over Memorial Day weekend brings thousands of visitors to the park.  There are many positions available from T-Shirt sales, to maintenance,  helping at the various stages, and so much more.   To find out more contact the Florida Nature & Heritage Center at 386-397-4461 or go to the

This is wonderful and beautiful park that draws thousands of visitors to the park each year.  All of our volunteers are valuable and we depend highly on them.
