BEGINNING POTTERY

Basic Hand-Building

Workshops taught by Diane Hornby

3 Working SESSIONS  

Limited to five students

​​Included in class:

    1. Basic Instruction in each technique
2. Open independent studio time – 
Thursdays before class with potter available for questions and extra instruction
3. Enough clay for the 4 projects described below
4. Firing of 4 vessels 
5. Glazes available for dipping or hand-painting for 4 vessels 

In the hand building class you will learn how to make/do: 


Day 1: Make the pinch pot and the assembled box with embellishments 

Day 2: Make the slump/hump pot and an object of your own choice

Day 3: Glaze all 4 pieces

Glazing by Dipping or Hand-painting and 
Embellishing each vessel – feet, handles, stencils, stamps


​Cost per student $110

Wear old clothes! Bring an apron and a towel!!

BASIC WHEEL THROWING

Workshops taught by Diane Hornby

3 Working SESSIONS  

Limited to two students, 16 years of age or older

​ 1. Basic Instruction in each technique
2. Open independent studio time – 
Thursdays before class with potter available for questions and extra instruction
3. Enough clay for the 4 projects described below
4. Firing of 4 vessels 
5. Glazes available for dipping or hand-painting for 4 vessels 

In the wheel-throwing class you will learn how to make/do: 

Preparing the clay 
Centering
Opening and pulling up
Finishing and trimming
Glazing by Dipping or Hand-painting and 
Embellishing each vessel – feet, handles, stencils, stamps

Day 1: Throw all 4 pots on the wheel and cover with plastic 
Day 2: Remove the pots from bats and trim the bottoms, add handles, etc
Day 3: Glaze all 4 pieces

​Cost per student - $110
