Literacy Month

At Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park

4th Grade Students along with Park Rangers are reading The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings during the month of September!

4th Grade Students in Hamilton County with Park Rangers spent the month of September reading Marjorie Kinnan Rawling’s Classic book The Yearling about a pioneer family braving the wilds in what is now the Ocala National Forest. Students read with their teachers as well as with a visiting Florida State Park Ranger throughout the month.

Literacy month culminated in a Grand Finale reading of the final chapters of the book by a Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings look alike on the front lawn of Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park’s Museum.
